It took 24 hours to make (elapsed time, not effort), but this sourdough hybrid was worth it. I’m hoping all of my future loaves will turn out just as well…..but they probably won’t :-)

Jacqui was ill on NYE so I was ‘on point’ with the kids. It seemed like a typically Dad thing to do to start making biscuits at around 7PM when I should really have been getting Amy and Joe ready for bed.
N.B. No mayonnaise was used in the icing and the beer was for moral support.

Post-Christmas Soup & Monster Croutons on Flickr.
First there’s the food on Christmas Day, then there’s cold cuts and leftovers on Boxing Day. A day or so after that there’s bubble and squeak using whatever cooked veg was left over from Christmas Day….and then bringing up the rear is a vegetable soup made with all of the veg which didn’t get cooked over Christmas, but which is in danger of going off if it’s not cooked all at once. Bloody lovely it was too.
The croutons were baked in chilli oil with salt, pepper and hot paprika seasoning.
